At Lyons Health and Wellness we care deeply about you as an athlete and individual. Our mission is to help you optimize your health and athletic performance, achieve your goals and feel your best! As athletes themselves, our providers have a unique understanding of your desire to perform your best and meet your athletic performance goals.

At Lyons Health and Wellness we go beyond traditional medicine to optimize health and athletic performance.

Recreational and Master’s athletes are typically under-served and not well understood in traditional medicine. Often, when athletes feel something is off and seek care with a conventional medical provider, they are told their labs are “normal.” “Normal” labs may not be enough to keep an athlete functioning at an optimal level. Athletes and especially masters’ athletes, have different nutritional and metabolic needs compared to non-athletes. When these nutritional and metabolic needs are not met, they can prevent progress with athletic performance and cause athletic performance to slip. Athletes are typically very in tune with their bodies and know when something is not right.

There can be many causes for athletic performance issues. Overtraining syndrome, malnutrition, hormone imbalances, thyroid disorders and nutritional deficiencies are common in athletes and can cause poor recovery, fatigue and energy problems. In women, estrogen can be depressed leading to disruptions in the menstrual cycle and resultant decrease in bone mass. Suboptimal iron stores can affect red blood cell production and hemoglobin levels and can affect athletic performance.
